Suppose at the beginning of the month your account has reached a high point, this is your "watermark. Any profit you make above this watermark during the month is subject to a profit split. If your account reaches no new highs from the previous month, no profit split is applied. This ensures that you only pay on actual profit earned above your previous high.
This method consistently encourages profitable performance and provides protection; you pay only when additional profit has been realized after previous top performance.
